Personalized jewelry has come a long way from its humble beginnings in the tiny town of Gorjana, in the foothills of the Himalayas.
“We were a one-person shop in a small village, but we have grown quite a bit over the years,” says Harish, a young man with a broad smile and a large smile.
He’s been making personalised jewelry in Gorjanas workshop for the past 10 months.
He says that the shop has become a family business and has been growing at an impressive pace.
“The whole project was pretty much decided at the end of January, with the last round of work being completed this week,” Harish explains.
“I am looking forward in the very near future to seeing what it’s all about.
We are very much a one person shop, so it will be tough for me to keep up with the pace.
We have been able to expand to other areas and do other things with our work.”
Harish says that personalised jewellery is something he loves and that it is very hard to find in India.
“People don’t always buy personalised pieces, which is why it is so difficult to find.
But I really believe that we have got it down.
I hope the end result will be a truly unique piece of jewelry that will truly be a tribute to the country,” Harishes son, Gopal, says.”
I’m excited to finally see the final product.
I think it’s a great experience.
The process has been so smooth, and I’m looking forwards to getting the final touches done.
I’m sure the final finish will be something special.”
