The moonland air show is in full swing this year with the launch of the new lunar rover and an event for space enthusiasts.
The Air Show is a celebration of space and is one of the oldest and most popular of its kind in the country, said Chris Gaffney, associate director of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.
It’s a way for Americans to show off our love of space exploration and celebrate our space heritage,” Gaffneys said.
The 2017 Air Show featured a robotic lunar lander and the first manned flight of the Space Launch System rocket booster.
The air show has also featured the first public display of the Moon Landing Vehicle and the second manned flight.
Gaffney said the event also includes many educational events including astronomy exhibits and children’s activities.
Moonland is the largest city on the moon.
It’s home to several aerospace and space companies, including SpaceX, Boeing and Lockheed Martin.
The event is held annually on the last Thursday in October.
